Cold Frame
Does anyone know a good place to get a really big (10ft+) cold frame? Already planning ahead for next year.

Hi, I've never seen one anywhere near as big. The biggest one I know of is a 6'X3' cedar frame by Woodpecker and the 5'6" X 3' by Gabriel Ash. They are both expensive. Some greenhouse makers do custom builds and would maybe do one for you at a price, and there may be huge frames aimed at the horticultural market

Thanks for the responses guys. I found this http://www.garden-products.co.uk/cus...roductid=22247 over the weekend. They do a range from 4'x4' up to the 10' by 4' in the picture. Bit worried about all the sliding doors but I think reptile viv locks might do the trick. Now all I need is railway sleepers.

Had a quick look, interesting product. £300 for the frame plus £100 for the base so the cost does add up, even so it is huge. Take care if using railway sleepers as they are usually treated with toxic chemicals. You can buy some that don't have any treatments off these people
http://www.ecomerchant.co.uk/index.p...roducts_id=283 but if I was buying that frame I would probably buy their base as well

Also you would have to have it modified so the tortoises can come and go as they please. As it does get hot in them during the sunniest times of the year.
I must say it does look good, but not sure about the cost

Thanks for the comments and the link for the sleepers. The coldframe is going to be part of a larger enclosure raised up to allow access as needed. The costs are a bit OTT, I know. Was thinking of a greenhouse but living in the wilds of South London security is my biggest worry so it'll be a very secure pen, very low profile. Anyone know where you can buy camoflague netting?
