Likes to eat slate?
I have just today got my first Tort - a spur. In their table enclosure I'd created a small rockery using broken slate (the left overs from from a kitchen floor unused and washed). Tort is having a good explore the new area - but keeps going back to the slate rockery and appears to be having a good chew and lick of the slate. Anything to worru about?

Its good for them to have a little nibble of slate as it will keep beaks nice and trim but i advise you get a cuttlefish! Soak it in water for about 5 min and hopefully the little 1 will chew that instead great source of calcium

As long as there no small bits of slate they can swallow then it is fine, they are curious creatures and like to explore surroundings. Cuttlefish or a calcium rock is good to have in table, trim beaks and calcium.
