Is the sun shining into that room? It does with me and it's affecting the temps below the lamp simply by the whole room being warmer, however I'm not adjusting my lamp (yet) as that temp is just temporary due to the sun being out. I'd sooner leave the door open a while until it settles at the 'correct' temp otherwise it may have to be readjusted tomorrow. In the wild the temps won't be exactly the same each day. I will have to adjust it as the days get warmer though

Just coming in at the end laura. If the runny nose and bubbles went away like that so quickly then it isn't rns. RNS is there until it's treated. Just imagine when you have a head cold. The runny nose and all is there continously for days. I think you're overreacting a little. I think everything will be fine.

If you have never dealt with RNS before, is it over-reacting? I just wanted to make sure that my tortoise is ok. Better to be safe that sorry!

Lol I dont think its over reacting, but panicy. One bubble from the nose is no real reason to panic Two bubble maybe
Seriously, a one bubble from the nose can be anything from a bit of dust up the nares, to bathing, to drinking or too proper rns.
Some tortoises have a clear discharge from the nares constantly, and its usually a reaction to husbandry, not full blown RNS. Sometimes tortoises just have a runny nose
Not that you should ignore it.
But calmly think about it before you start to panic.
Is it a one off?
Is it something you have changed in the enclosure?
Has the tortoise just drunk?
Is there any gunky discharge?
If its the last one then you are allowed to panic?
Any of the others, just wait and see if it continues, if it does then up the temps and see the vet.

Thanks Sandy, I did just see a runny nose and a bubble and panicked. (he's never had it before). I wasnt going crazy or anything, just wanted to check with you guys that its ok.
He is fine today, i have checked his nares, all dry, but a little green from his weed breakfast.
I know what to look out for in the future now. So thanks everyone for your help.
If i dont ask, i dont learn.
