I don't know, sorry, but I would like to know this aswell! It seems like the most common illness in torts from what I can see on this site. I'm sure a clever keeper will be along momentarily though

I think some worms are visible in the poo, some are much tinier though, also i think in the early stages it could just be eggs. I found out my tort had worms when I became concerned about her lack of activity and appetite, and I had a faecal screen done.
i think they must get worms from their weeds being picked externally, which must sometimes have eggs on? Maybe from bird poo or something. I'm sure someone on here will know!

The first time I realized was in my leo's poo. My sully had them and never ever saw anything. The vet discovered it in his sample.

if you google strongyle worms
you will see that many animals and many birds carry this parasite so very often weeds and pastures are contaminated washing the weeds may help a little |

We rehomed an Indian Star just before Christmas, this is some of what she has presented us with. Sorry about the picture being on its side, I put them in a jar to photograph them and noticed they were still alive!

Yeuch! They're revolting! They look quite big, Larraine, one of mine has jsut been wormed and the dead ones that came out in his poo were tiny thread like things.

oh my god!!!! Laraine... this is so awful! when we first got Walter he poo'ed out a load of worms... ( I assumed he had just been wormed) so we took him to get wormed... didn't go well... they just tried to get him to eat it and then told me to put some on his food, which he didn't obviously eat.
I took him to a much more experienced vet in regard to torts and he tube fed it into his stomach!! Jackie... i did look... it wasn't nice to see ! xxx
