Tabitha's tail
Tabitha was sexed as female last year. I'm slightly concerned about her tail as it looks as if it has a slight bend in it and is growing backwards. I'd read this could be a growth deformity. Does she need to see a vet about this?
She's eating well - a daily weed diet bulked out with a little radicchio and romaine and Mazuri leaf-eater pellets once a week - and showing no signs of lethargy or ill-health. Her SCL is 106mm and her growth is steady. Does it look a cause for concern? Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I'm really not sure about her Lynne but Danny sexed her female a couple of months ago.
She's still only young so her sex could change again yet!

It changed Emma She is a male and a T.h.boettgeri. The tail growing backwards is something that happens with some Hermanns males and there is probably a bit of inbreeding going on that produces it. With the way his tail is, and will probably keep growing that way, that he won't likely be able to breed with a female.
The thing you'll have to keep an eye on is the skin under the as this will get rubbed on just about anything and can cause sores. Danny

Okay, thanks Danny. I'm not too worried about him breeding, so that's not an issue. I just wanted to ensure he didn't need the attention of a vet. I will keep a close eye on the skin under it. What should I use if I see it getting sore, vaseline or something similar?

That should work fine, even a plaster might work (a TMNT one ).

Okay thank you.
I'll try and get a photo of Oscar for IDing in a moment, to check he's also THB. As a clutch-mate of Florence/Hugo I'm sure he'll be the same. Pretty frustrating if all three are THB's when I travelled a fair distance to get hercs to match Theo.
