Default 31 sea turtles found dead so far in Mississippi

Eight sea turtles were found dead in Pass Christian, Mississippi in addition to nine yesterday, bringing the total number of dead turtle sightings in the wider area to at least 31. Tests are being carried out to see if these are linked to the explosion at the Deepwater Horizon rig and the 220,000 gallons of oil that are being spewed into the Gulf each day.

I suspect, one of the consequences of this oil leak in the Mexican Gulf is the effect on local populations of Diamond back Terrapins, which live in the Salt marshes and Estuaries of the Gulf region. This is their breeding season and the slick is coming "on shore" at locations used for nesting and foraging.

Awaiting data on the effect of the Oil spill on Diamond Back Turtles in the Gulf region. However, first pic's of Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtles caught up in this awful mess:

Looking at the news in that area ... worse is to come. Yes? Doesn't look good.
