Ha ha, I like that story Alan.
I had to run through a field of waist-high nettles last summer in a race - with shorts on. They were extra-super-stingy and I couldn't sleep for about 4 nights after. Horrid! |

Reggie seems to disagree that thistles are okay to eat... he is turning into a very fussy tortoise. I found some thistles today and went "hooray! i can collect some for Reggie to try!" I carefully cut off all the big spines, but these were Scotch Thistles and have spines all the way round the leaves, I thought it would be okay to leave a couple of little ones on. Reggie took two bites and started freaking out again, as with the nettles he was opening his mouth really wide and trying to scratch his face. He was also making a little retching noise which worried me as I've never heard him make any other noise than "ooph" when picked up and not happy about it.
So thistles are currently off the menu unless I can find some with so few spines I can cut them all off easily. (If i cut all the spines off these there wouldn't be much left for eating!) Has anyone else found this with thistles? Or do I just have a fussy eater on my hands?
