i didn't think about them eating it... :/ i have been giving living lettuce for the last 3 days as they had a week of just weeds and wouldn't touch it. i mix the lettuce with soaked grass pellets i brought from shelled warriors shop, a little aloe, optunia and dried flowers. the weeds i've positively id so far are dandelion, slender plantain and field marigold.. all of which they wont touch, even when chopped and mixed with the lettuce. i also have spider plants on the table that they haven't touched.

i fed the lettuce because i was told they were raised on a lettuce and weed mix.

i gave them a weed heavy mix today all chopped up with lettuce and even a little cucumber juice for temptation.. they both took one sniff and went to bed. grr!

That doesn't sound bad. Watch out to make sure ther is not too much spinach if it is a similar mix to what we have in the states. We call it spring mix. Even Iceberg lettuce has some nutritional value... mainly the darker leaves that the grocery usually throws out.

its a growing planted lettuce on my windowsill in a pot! not a bag mix, so no there is no spinach i've seen the same thing mentioned in many tortoise threads, some people plant them in their tables, some people use them to supplement food... so when i saw it i thought that it was an ok one thanks, Louise

not sure where my husband got it from, i think it was tescos... but anyway here is a pic:

they seen to go for the frilly stuff first, most of the snow outside has melted so i will wrap up and do some weeding then post up pics of my findings. hopefully there will be more stuff i can feed them. ill get some different stuff from the supermarket too, i saw on tortoise table they can eat the red leaf lettuce too, if i mix that with the soaked grass pellets they might go for it.

thanks, Louise
