Exclamation Pregnant Cat Help

Hey everyone!
Well my cat is pregnant, and recently she has been having really bad diaorhoea. We have found out my dad has been giving her milk, he has stopped giving her it now. She only ever gets diaorhoea after she eats, we tried jsut giving her biscuits but she wouldn't eat them all the time and because she's pregnant I didn't want to stop feeding her.

Well today my dad called the vet and he said to starve her for 24 hours, me and my mum are a little dubious as she is meant to eat more than usual and I'm worried starving her for so long will hurt the kittens!
Help!

Perhaps 24 hrs wont be a problem - I am sure the vet would be right. What about phoning cats Protection for advice?

your vet is right, although i am assuming you did tell the vet she was having kittens

starving for 24 hours is the quickest way to halt the runs, if its not stopped she is going to end up very dehydrated

if it continues after the 24 hours she must go to the vets,

give her plenty of fluids, she can have milk, if its mixed with water, but it must not be down on the floor long in this hot weather

after 24 hours, light diet of white meat, fish, chicken boiled rice

You can buy cats milk in Tesco's,maybe you could give her some vitamins as well.24 hours would be ok,think of the wild cats that never get fed and have kittens

I would starve her for 24 hours, its not going to hurt her or the kittens, if you carry on feeding her the diarrhoea wont go away.

Once you have starved her for 24 hours you could try chicken (boiled) and rice (plain foods) just to ensure her stomach has settled as cat foods can be very rich...........
I hope this helps

how old is your cat Beth?

perhaps you could get a voucher from the CPL to get her spayed as soon as she has had the kittens

you mentioned there is water most places for her to drink, do you mean, bowls around the house, or water outside

I mean bowls A bowl inside and also outside in the porch. She is just about a year old I should think. Typically she managed to escape the house while on heat the week we were going to call the vets to get her spayed, they're so sneaky! Yes we are definately getting her spayed!
