Thanks for positive replies, yes that is a big dandelion and sow thistles they grow naturally in there so there they stay, I know people say that greenhouses are no good but with the door, windows and vents open ( I have a wire door over the entrance ) I think they get more than enough UV rays etc, they are out there all the time at the moment it never gets cold in there at night, although I do tuck them up in their house at night, The weed garden flourishes with plenty of water so they help themselves, the greenhouse is a really big one and had nothing else in there, if I can heat it in the winter I'd like them to stay in there we'll have to see.

Cool, Do they go outside as well to get uv as uv does pass through glass? My greenhouse is much smaller yours is a great size, bet they are really happy in there. For the winter you could add a heater and perhaps a T-rex combined lamp to give heat and uv.

I don't have an outside run at the moment but we hope to build a large outside enclosure for next year, I shall transplant all the plants etc, my torts are only babies, a year in august, I can't build on the greenhouse as I would like to as it has a concrete base as you can see in the photo so we will have to start from scratch but they should be fine for this year the only mistake we made were buying white mixed gravel/stones the poor things thought it was all cuttlefish, won't do that again. My hubby is the caretaker for a large Elizabethan house and the greenhouse stands in the grounds and hadn't been used for years so we were very lucky, I put the paving slabs down to walk on I was terrified of treading on them we've lost them several times but now I know they can't get out I don't worry so much it took us an hour to find them the first time .

That is a truly stunning piece of work, your torotises should be very happy!!
Shame you can not extend it to include an outdoor enclosure, but i am sure when you get them out doors that will look great to. darren |
