Yes as far as I know TTs babies are THB as are most hermanns in the UK.

Thanks. I was confused as his cert says THH - but given his breeders are such a shambles I am not surprised. I went to see them under the pretence that I wanted to buy two torts. ALL their torts were lumpy and the 4 day old hatchlings were in a cat litter tray without any heat lamps. The care sheets given to me included dock leaves, cabbage, carrots etc. and I was told to feed them ''nectarines, apples, bananas, well anything from the fruit bowl and keep in a box with carpet and or pellets, no lamp needed" !! The RSPCA were called but were useless, leaving all the torts with her but 'removed' 2 spurs and promptly rehomed them herself !!! Backhanding flashed through my mind!
What he is does not matter, it was curiosity, he is my very special little boy and loved dearly regardless of his shape! Tamie |

Hi Tamie
Defra don't recognise sub species so all Herman's tortoise paperwork will say testudo hermanni. Its the discretion of the owner /breeder to be accurate on what he is selling /breeding . Linda yes that's right no use sitting at home thinking I no the answer to this question but i can't answer it i'm new to what if i'm wrong, if you no how to answer please answer or even a good quess this is a forum and posting helps us all learn . I saw this post yesterday and could easily have answered it straight away but that would discourage everyone Else's guesses so by leaving the obvious to me it gives others a chance at a pop and help broaden there knowledge and with a little research this helps us all learn from each other. Darren
