Orange patches
My tortoise who I believe to be around 50 years old has developed orange patches on her shell. The orange seems to be in the shell not on it. Is this a fungal infection if so how do I treat it ? She is a very fussy eater and will not eat anything that has calcium powder on it.

You'll need to post a picture for us to know what might be going on.

Snowball please post some photos as Danny is really well qualified to offer some help here. It's a bit of a fiddle with photobucket the first time but soon becomes second nature. I don't think a calcium deficiency would normally be thought of as causing what you have seen, but as I say, Danny will have something useful to say (and he's doesn't charge yet!)

I hope I have made this link correctly. Can you tell I am a novice ? I would be grateful for your opinion as to what these patches are ? Last edited by egyptiandan64; 03-04-2015 at 08:44 PM. |

It looks like shell rot to me and should be seen by a good tortoise vet as soon as possible.

I hope you find a good reptile vet who can get the rot under control soon. Good luck.
