Tortoises in space
This is fascinating. I never knew that a pair of Russian tortoises won the space race.
If I’d known I would have called ours Neil Armstrong! https://spacecentre.co.uk/blog-post/...s-at-the-moon/ |

Them Russians seem to get everywhere.
I'm sure you could change his name and it won't bother him to much. |

This sending tortoises into space is pointless and morally wrong in my opinion!
When the original Horsfields went into space they came back with a 10% loss of body mass. What does a tortoise make of being in space? I imagine a frightening experience. This nonsense is still going on. In 2014 the Iranians put two turtles into space to see what effect this would have on their reproductive behaviour. Yes really.

Quite right too Jonathan. Its all a bit strange as Tortoises have lived 200 million years on the ground what would it gain knowledge wise.
I could have added to their thesis on the impact of Turtles' reproduction in space. It is well know they become Ninja and fight evil.

Total Ninja!
I just checked out the stuff that mankind decided to send into space but I wish I hadn't. If you're ready to feel disappointed in your fellow man / woman, here you go. I won't spoil it for you but some of it is just...sad. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/ne...ects-in-space/
