Default Adult reds

I have aquired a pair of adult red foots today some how ooops!

I just need a bit of advice, they are currently in a temporary set up of soil with wood chips on top which i made wet, for humidity? and a 100w arcadia heat lamp. Next week i hope so set something bigger up for them in the shed.

I don't know much about this species so would appreciate any help in what i can do for them? diet? housing set up? anything else?

I am going to post pics in the ID section to confirm their sexes.

They seem to breathe very heavily, is this common of reds?

They werent kept very well previously, just wandered round the house with 6 young children running around and came to me covered in blue paint! Shells are pretty bumpy..

Some pics

i think regarding the breathing it will get better now with correct humidity , rather than heat a shed you would be better with a big viv for them , soil and bark is all good, humidity around 70% but no more , heat around 30c daytime 20c nighttime.

They don't look bad for abused animals. They look like the northern form of Redfoots.

Treat them like any other tortoise.

For them the humid hide is pretty important. You really don't need to keep the ambient humidity very high. Spraying to keep the dust down should be more than enough.
