A Fishy Tale
I was watching my fish this morning and noticed one had a pebble stuck in its mouth. This happens often and they usually dislodge it themselves very quickly. Not this morning!
I left it as long as i dare, then decided I had to do something. I remembered reading about this and the solution was to get the fish out, hold it in a towel and use tweezers to get the pebble out. Easier said than done. First attempt to catch the fish with a net ended up 1:0 to the fish The second attempt I used a bowl. Got him in but he thrashed so much I ended up putting him back cos he was stressing so much. 2:0 to the fish. By this time I am soaking wet but concerned about the fish. So I just picked him up in my hand, no thrashing. Got him in a towel and gently removed the stone with some tweezers. 2:2 He is fine, still sucking pebbles. I was wet through and it took me half an hour to clean up. Pets, don't you just love em? |

We have a weatherloach, he is a nuisance to catch, same sort of thing, jumps out of the net, squiggles about the floor, but you are brave, removing a pebble! xx

congratulations Glynis, sorry but I did laugh while reading through that tho. They are so hard to catch, mine used to jump out of the net or bowl.
