Default how hot is hot enough

...is everyone basking in the glorious sunshine? I tested the water in one of the Tortoise water dishes/come sit in baths today and there is no way I would ever bathe my tortoises in that hot of water !? incredibly hot !! CB

Yes it's been amazing here in Glasgow today. By about 10.30 a.m. mine were totally warmed up and starting to seek out a bit of shade to avoid over heating. They must have thought they were in Corsica.

Septimus decided it was the right day to dig a nest and she is still working on it now (9.30 at night). I put the basking light on for her!

My tortoises were out in the garden at 7.30am grazing the lawn:0)
No heat of course in the GH, no need for it this time of the year.

Yes I put the light on because otherwise she would have been in the dark. But maybe she would have just carried on her work in the dark?

Nice photo Jonathan, we don't get to see your set ups often - lovely ! And you are nearly in Norway so think the lights are northern lights really - at least you can see her also ! keep us posted on events wont you !

Another hoooot day here. found some huge weeds too so everyone is happy, lawn munching all day breakfast !

I have had tortoises lay late in the evening and provided they still have the heat they will carry on laying. They sort of go into a trance they cant stop, unless it gets cold:0)
