hello my horsfield who i thought was a boy till recently called albert is now called albertina she has just layed 4 eggs which are in a hovabator (hmmm not to sure about this incubator, temp is up down all the time) anyway my questions are how deep do u put the eggs in the vermiculite and do u cover the eggs up with a damp paper towel i have read this somewhere.i have got the temp at around 29-31 and humidity between 60-75 is that ok.
any other information would be appreciated thanks. |

You don't need to cover them with the paper towel until they start to hatch. Everything else sounds good.

Congratulations
The first few days temps in a hovabator can go up and down thats why its best to have it set up a week before you use it, but of cause you couldnt do that. It should settle down. How are you measuring humidity? Yes as dan said a damp tissue only when they begin to hatch this ups the humidity allowing them to get out of the shell easier - advice from Darren (piglet)
