Hybrid tortoises

In the USA, there are tortoise keepers who have produced, perhaps by accident hybrid animals. Some of these, are very strange combinations indeed:
A recently published example: The Redfoot X Leopard:

At four years old these appear to have grown quite well, on diet which may surprise a few too?

I have a further picture which is said to include the Father, a leopard tortoise.

Hi dont know if i agree or not but I keep red foots and you can really see the red foots in the young 4 year olds , the leopards grow very very large with a more domed shell, so would be intresting to see what size they get to and shape, plus diet is diffrent but i surpose as hatched in captivity they will adapt to how they are brought up?

We are told,that the adult male leopard (father) is nineteen years old and the three young hybrid Red foot/ Leo's are merely four years old. They certainly appear to be growing larger than their father and all seem to thrive on this rather "catholic" diet. The animals have been bred and reared in Florida.
It will be interesting to see if they are fertile or as with Mules, a sterile biological cul de sac?
I have no doubt, that this might be considered controversial and may indeed cause a few to rumbles in the hacienda!

They do look beautiful though, whether its right or wrong to cross breed, they look healthy enough x

I'm sure if you search hybrid tortoises you will find some of the lists I've done. This is the first time I've seen this particular hybrid. There have been pictures on of a Redfoot/Radiated hybrid.
