Captive Breeders in Essex
Hello,
I am new to the site and have wanted a tortoise for a long time. I want to purchase a Hermanns eventually but of course want to get everything prepared and be ready first. Your website is very good and has helped me decide a table top is the way to go as far as indoor housing goes. The garden is going to have a tortoise section and I now have a reason for appreciating all those weeds! Do you know if there are any reputable breeders in Essex? I have seen a website for one in Basildon but I am wary as they suggest Viv's as the ideal home. Also what sort of prices are average for a healthy baby? The ones there were £99 with certificates. Thank you very much for your help.

Firstly welcome to the forum
I will assume the website you have seen is wiltons pets (the tortoises centre) This is a place to avoid they are highly connected with the wild caught trade. Heres a link to another thread where someone is looking for a breeder in essex http://forums.shelledwarriors.co.uk/...pic.php?t=2981

Thank you very much for that. Yes it was the same one. So a certificate doesnt guarantee its been UK bred. I suppose its the same with everything these days you can cheat it. Definetely won't be going there. I will try looking on Tortoise Trust.
Thank you!
