Where did you get her from? I bought a tortoise from a pet shop and he had the same thing. It turned out mine was wild caught. With a worm load like that it wouldn't surprise me if yours is too.

Would you say it is better than panacur? the panacur is a bit difficult to work out as its for furry animals, if the Kusuri is easier to work out the dosages then i'll give that a try x

Awww, bless her. Poor little darling.
I do hope you get her sorted soon. She's a very pretty little poppet

Thanks everyone, I got her the same place as my other 2 and they hav always been brilliant in the past, I phoned them today and he said they were wormed through their food originally but she could have been missed he is going to check the others she was in with but there's no way they won't all be infected with loads like that they are a good store and have many awards for their exotics so I really do believe this is unusual for them.
I have never wormed before so wouldn't be confident until I see it being done, she has a vet app tomorrow morning but hopefully they will give her something straight away rather than wait for counts??!! Thanks for all advice guys |

Panacur granules are so easy to use. You just sprinkle correct amount on their food, they have no smell or taste so the tortoise just eats them. I was told its hard to overdose with panacur its very safe x

Hopefully he will give us that then. Is there anything I should steer well clear of or do you think if a vet says something is ok then to trust what they give?

Just steer clear of vitamin shots (usually vitamin A) as its easy to overdose on.

Been to vet, couldn't get a stool sample but showed him the pics and he gave her panacur straight down her throat in a syringe but she was being very stubborn so I have the last bit to give her later today when she isn't so upset about it. I handed in samples for my other two while I was there but they have been fine so far so fingers crossed.
He said she looked really healthy but was a bit fat lol but nothing that she can't burn off once she is better and has more room to run around. I am not looking forward to getting her mouth open, she is very strong and isn't used to me enough to be tricked with hand feeding, fingers crossed though, he showed me the best way to get her mouth open. |
