Glad you like him Jemma, I have had a pair of these for many years. They are unique amongst Freah water Turtles, in that they swim exactly like their marine cousins.

He really is stunning, this is going to sound like a very silly question but does he remain in water all the time or does he like to get out on to rocks etc?

Like their Marine cousins these are completly aquatic. Only females when they want to nest haul out onto sand or mud bars in the to lay a clutch of eggs in a nest chamber.
Out of water, these animals feel very vunerable and find movement very difficult.
