different keepers do this in different ways
some off enough food per day that would cover their shell others allow torts to eat as much as they wish in 1 hour if you monitor weight increase over a few months you will be able to see if what you are offering is enough or to much |

ah i see so if i did it by shell size is that for example a big leaf that would cover the shell enough

how much food
I have a leopard tort and I have planted some seed trays with plantain, timothy grass and ord. grass with also some aloe vera and nipplewort . I planted half a dozen trays and rotate them round. I leave a tray in for my tort to nibble at as she pleases.
I also took her into the garden today as summer decided to belatedly make an appearance. She really enjoyed wandering round whilst her mummy (yours truly) sat in a garden chair supping a Corona beer. (I hope no one will 'do' me for being intoxicated in charge of a tort!!) Anyway she was having a nice nibble at the weeds in the garden and enjoying the sunshine. |

i'll take some pics later today and show you. I have to have a teenager sort out getting pics from the camera to the laptop to photobucket and then downloaded. this is despite being on the net since 96 and meeting my husband on line (er.... he was not my husband at the time....lol!!)

this tray is in use on my tort table at the moment. I have sprinkled the plantain which she loves with Nutrobal I'm also still picking flowers and vine leaves and clover and sprinkling them at the moment whilst I can still get them. I have plantain (2 types) grass aloe vera and some nipplewort This is a pic of 3 of my trays in the outside greenhouse thingy I only planted these about 2 weeks ago so will be trimming the grass to try and thicken it up a bit. This pic is a tray I had in the tort table last week and she loved the fresh plantain. I've changed trays as she nibbled from the centre of the plantain so I'm giving it chance to recover. well, as you can see I dragged my teenage son out of bed at 10 am to give me a lesson in uploading photos and he says I am evil for getting him out of bed. I'm downloading some pics of my tort and her tort table so I'll post those soon.

I got mine from shelled warriors and they were very quick arriving (thanks) I was tidying up the front garden yesterday and thought to myself, you can tell a tort keeper by the type of weed they allow to grow in their garden .....says she after she pulled out all but plantains and a few dandies.
