Default Got more eggs last night

I figured I'd take pictures of my newest clutch of Gulf Coast box turtle eggs. She laid 7 in this clutch, her second, and 8 in her first. I put them in a container with 3 Three-toed box turtle eggs that are a second clutch, her first was 5 eggs. I've had 2 infertile eggs so far and a Gulf Coast that laid just 1 egg, fertile. So I've gotten 15 fertile eggs so far, hopefully these 7 will all be good

Dan

Well Sandy you never no i will whatch catrefully now incase eggs are laid have brought them in for a while as finding a natural dug nest in the outdoor enclosure would be impossible plus the smaller female is slighty underweight and need to keep an eye on her still learning not great confident with them yet but getting there i hope .

Sandy what sex are yours .

If i get the chance of taking pictures thats if anything happens i will certainly let you no

Mine are supposed to be a male and a female, but one has a deformed tail area, so its hard
to say<g>. I have never seen them mating. But I know they need a larger enclosure. I have
been waiting for some rain, to be able to dig and make it larger. Could be infor a long wait
here.
Is there any other way of telling the sexes apart?
Other than the tail ends.
Or would two males fight anyway?

Thanks Pete and Darren

Darren the first container is just dirt so the eggs don't roll around when I bring them in. The second container is vermiculite. The vermiculite has to be damp with box turtle eggs and I keep a container of water with them. Humidity has to be at least 80%, not sure as I don't often check it.

Kind of hard most of the time to get pictures of them laying Sandy . They usually start late and don't finish till way after dark. Three-toed aren't bad, but the gulf coast will bolt if they see you while they are digging.

Dan

Thanks Dan.
So they prefer late afternoon early evening for laying?
Or would they lay early morning too?

I've only seen 2 morning nestings, one gulf coast and one eastern in over 20 years of breeding box turtles.
