Sarah yes it is possible to overdose with Nutrabol, but that's with adults that aren't growing any more. When it comes to growing hatchlings, tortoises with broken bones and tortoises replacing bone because of shell rot it's just not possible. That's why the Tortoise Trust has changed their advice. I've personally been doing what the TT just said to do for over 20 years and I've never had an overdose. I did mention to just to give the nutrabol everyday while the leg was fractured

I am amazed to see that people are still recommending feeding nutrobal three times a week I wonder why this is when the Tortoise trust are stating quite clearly tht it shuold be fed daily to hatchlings in this country. If this tortoise is calcium deficient then it will need the full dose of nutrobal plus extra limestone. Could you mail me [rivately please to say who the breeder is

It needs to be given daily to all growing tortoises Sarah. My vet advises daily supplementation too. Andy Highfield make a statement last week to say that 3 times weekely ws fine if you live in an area where torts are indigenous. Sorry but the info does need to be changed as people are undersupplementing.

The change in nutrabal doses has only changed in the last year or so, thats why some are still
recommending the three times a week routine. It does take a while for new info to get too some keepers, especially if they are not on the net regularly. Some have only just started the new routine themselves.

thanks for all the help and advice. The internet can contain contradicting and out of date info which can be so misleading!

Some are still intent on disputing the new advice though despite being pointed to TT posts. I think it is a sahme when people take on the self appointed post of knowing best. We never know best and should always be prepared to change.
