Grumpy boy Hermanns
Hi, I have just moved twig and Iris into their biiger table. I got them last week as rehomers and they were bigger than I expected for 2 1/2 years old. So now the table is double the size. Within 5 mins of moving in twig (male) started biting at Iris's legs. they have loads of food spcae and things to climb on and over. What should I do? I could seperated them if you think this is the best move.
Thanks Jane

Hi Jane,
Were these tortoises rehomed orm the same person??? Have they lived together before now???? Sorry for all the questions just trying to get as much info as possible. If the aggression worsens definately seperate them. Ade

Thanks all. Yes Ade they have always been together. Just after posting this message, i went to check on them and Twig had taken himself of to bed, so I think they are ok now. Its not nice to watch though I have to admitt, they have quite a nip on them as I am sure you all know!!!
I will keep an eye on them.

Hi Jane,
Thats good that they have always lived together, this might be a sign that you have a maturing tortoise, just keep an eye on them and be prepared to seperate if they are stressing each other out or coming to any harm. Ade

I have a pair of hermanns who came to me together. They live together very happiliy. When the sun is shining and Enoch is in the mood he can get a bit naughty. I do give them seperate bath times so they get a break from each other which can help. they settle down quite quickly. They sleep side by side, occaisionaly Enoch sleeps on top of Ida. Last summer they were out in their run when it rained. Instead of going in their house Ida huddled patheticaly against the fence and Enoch lay across her to stop her geting wet. They have a fascinating relationship but then when Enoch gets too much for Ida she is quite happy to put him on his back! You didn,t say does your other tortoise stand up to the naughty boy?

Ah your two sound so sweet tortlynuts. So far I haven't seen Iris stand up for herslef, but she is certainly a fiesty minx when it comes to me or particulaly the vet. so I guess if he gets too much she will sot him out... I hope.
