Hi Viv, I had to inject my first tortoise and I found it very stressful to me let alone the poor torty, my hand was shaking, I didnt know how hard to push the needle without it coming out the other side of his leg, I know I couldnt do it again should be for experienced people. Cant you bring him home and then take it back for the injection?

I had to inject my tortoise a year ago. What i did was get the tortoise on your knee in between your legs so its on a tilt, then get its front leg and push it towards its headnow there whould be some flab you can inject into.

Viv did the vet say it was an intramuscular, into a muscle, or subcutaneous, under the skin, shot?

Hi

If you have a spare needle without anything in, then practice on an orange. Sounds daft but
they have a similar skin thickness etc. A little practice can make all the difference.

Bite the bullet and try and learn Viv, its a very useful skill to have (along with stomach tubing) in tortoise keeping and Im sure your vet will teach you how!
