Star's eggs. Fertile or not.
My star tortoise laid eggs 6 days ago. All 3 eggs became whitish 2 days ago, not sure whether this is so-called "chalking up". When candled, i don't see any vein nor air bubble. I post the pictures here hoping someone could tell me whether they are fertile. *When can i expect to see the veins if they are fertile?
Incubation conditions: atmosphere temperature: 28-31C; Air humidity: 80-85%; Medium: Dry perlite layered with coarse/hard laterite. (Could this work?) Thanks!!! |

Decent veins take weeks to form not days. Chalking is a good sign so keep up the incubating

chalking can take upto a couple of weeks. You will need patience, incubation can take upto 150days , so leave them be and check them in a couple of months regards Andy

Very sorry, first time try to post photo, didn't work. Read FAQ for photo uploading again, but still can't get my way through. I am trying to attach photo directly onto this post, any clue...?

Thanks all for your info on the vein, etc. It helps a lot.
On the 7th day, i suddenly discovered the Star's eggs showed some changes. A "black round spot" appeared at the center of egg 1 and 3 when candled; Egg 2 remains clear. What is this black round spot? the air bubble? The eggs are fertile? Hope the photos are visible |
