He is 6 years old, i have had him just a few months and he is in MAJOR REHAB - when he first came here, he had not seen proper daylight for 4 years, and not been out of his "enclosure" for that long, they lady owner was really nervous of him. He could hardly walk !!

He is hard work, they are very sensitive animals, but also super rewarding - i would urge anyone who wants one to look past the beauty and make sure you know what your getting into before you purchase - likewise there are loads of iggys out there looking for homes, but these often have issues.

Darren.

really? do they do this with all types of animals - by that I mean big dogs, snakes, other lizards...or was it just because it had the run of the living room.

I saw one of these fella's in a pet shop near me, he was bout 5ft . I've got to say, I can just about manage the beardies and Kelly will tell you I've been freaked out a bit by them

The one I saw was bobbing his head and looking like he was very angry!!!

what do they eat dare I ask?

He is gorgeous though... its horrible to think there are so many needing new homes because people get one and then are nervous of them. x

People underestimate thier size which is why so many need good homes !

They eat , Greens Stuffs, Green Stuff, Fruit and Veggies - dead easy you can buy it at the supermaket - with few dandy leaves and flowers thrown in..

I vaguely remember from about 45 years ago a child who lived near us was suffocated by a cat going to sleep on the child's face in the cot or pram or whatever it was

it was ignorance on the midwifes part. this was 11 years ago ( god i feel old!) and then the exotic hobby was still in its infancy [compared to now]. the internet was almost unheard of all the midwofe knew was that they could carry salmonella. BUT when i had my home birth a year ago the midwoves refused me a home birth unless i moved the snakes from my bedroom. they were baby snakes, 8 inches long, perfectly secure in a double locked rack but they refused to attend to me unless i moved them into another room. but different areas ave different rules.

if i had the room and didnt have young kids i would JUMP at the chance to own another iggy. as dazza said, they are super rewarding and one of the most often rehomed pets.

Darren, he was a rescue, sad story so i could'nt leave him where he was - he has cost a fortune at the vets already, had to have part of his tail removed due to gangreene. He could not walk properly when we first got him, and had to force feed for the first couple of weeks, which was not easy, he got me back with quite a nasty bite, and my arms looked like i was self harming - just got the scars now - LOL

He is coming round slowly but it will take time to build him up properly..

He will never be able to climb trees and branches properly as his front feet are knackered.
