Horsfields' Subspecies
I finally took pictures. The first will be T.h.horsfieldii. They are domed and almost as wide as long.
T.h.horsfieldii The next will be T.h.rustamovi. They are domed, but narrow and long. T.h.rustamovi Danny

Thanks for showing these pictures!I see the difference on the shell shape but the color of the shell looks pretty much the same?Is the color different only when they are babies? You showed your T.h.rustamovi and T.h.horsfieldii babies in another thread and their color is very different.

If they were clean The T.h.kazachstanica are yellow. The T.h.horsfieldii are a darker yellow almost a brownish yellow. The T.h.rustamovi are olive greenish yellow.

Yes I have all 3 Thats how I could take pictures of all 3 The flash washes out the colour. You can see the difference in person. Not sure why the UK hasn't gotten the other 2 subspecies. Over here in the states we mostly have T.h.rustamovi and T.h.kazachstanica. It's T.h.horsfieldii thats hard to find here.

Interesting subject Dan , if your theory is correct regarding type/colour then i have all 3 proposed sub species, but im not seperating them off to breeding type to type as they have been producing offspring for several years now. Anyway interesting Dan Darren

I am going to ask a really really silly question. I have my hatchings from Darren and if Darren does have the 3 sub species , I have 2 horsfields from him which were laid by different females (same parent) what happens in these cases? what sub species would I end up with is the question really.. they actually look very different... colouring and shape
