Thanks guys. Unfortunately it was a test run but I'm hoping she will lay soon. The first clutch from the older female have chalked, but there isn't much else to report as hingeback eggs take so long to develop. I might candle them at the weekend as that will be 4 weeks since they were laid.

My older female has just laid 4 eggs. No gravid behaviour this time, the only reason I knew she had laid was because I saw her 'dry swimming' on the nest mound and thought I had better check! So 7 eggs in the incubator but still nothing from the obviously gravid younger female (now nicknamed 'the terrorist')!!!!!
Any suggestion on how I can get her to lay?

Try taking out the older female and see if that calms her down enough to lay.

I don't keep the same torts as you but the way i get round it is to put a partition in and keep the one you think is going to lay up the laying end that way there is less stress all round works for me in fact its in use this morning

Thanks Gordon my friendly gentle female has turned into a monster, so the sooner she lays the better! I bet yours will lay before mine. Which species/sub species is she?
