I think you're right to leave it Lynn as it will probably die with shock if you open it. It may well have a large egg sac or just be very small. In these situations it is very difficult to get it right.

Well after 80 days still nothing. I tested it & heartbeat had fallen to 46, so I decided to open the egg. Inside was a tiny baby who looks perfect curled around a large yolk sac. I carefully peeled the shell & white membrane away which took ages - sods law I opened the egg at its bum end & thought it was more important to have his head out. He is alive but not very responsive. I would like to give him a drink but he is in a kind of clear bubble gum type bubble - with veins running through it & I thought if I broke this it might rupture his sac? Ive put him in a steralised pop top in Vaseline back in incubator on damp paper towel. Not looking good. but I am now glad I broke the egg as theres no way he could of himself.

Sounds as if you did the right thing Lynn. Keeping everything crossed for you that this little one makes it. At least it stands a chance now, however small. In the egg it doesn't sound as if it stood a chance at all. x

I wouldn't worry about the drink as it will be absorbing everything from the egg sac that it needs at the moment, the jelly stuff will have more or less gone by this evening I expect. Mine had a large egg sac so I assumed it actually needed longer in the egg than I had allowed it I don't have a machine like yours to give any clues as to what is happening inside the egg though. Good luck, I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Not going to attempt to soak him ( have added more water around the top) or spray him, for fear of bacteria |

After mine had been in the incubator for 2 or 3 days I offered it a drink via a blunt end syringe but it ran down it's chin onto the sac so I would be very hesitant about offering any.
