Wow, they are both lively this morning... Yes they had absorbed the yolk sac prior to me separating them last night...
Both have had a warm bath, and covered in Iodine again and put back in the incubator... Little one only weighs 1g and the other one weighs 6g.... Will update as we go... Thanks again for support and advice Take care Tracie x |

Tracie, what a star you are, fingers crossed for the little one. With Alley Cat's baby tort and now yours, we are learning so much here about hatchlings. Can't imagine the stress though, I know you've been brave because you had to be, but even so, a massive thumbs up.

Thank you, wasn't easy as so small....
Now I need to decide how to house it when it comes out of incubator?? Think they are to small for table top, but not keen on Vivs.... Maybe better for it though for a few weeks, but I don't know... Suggestions please... xx |

What I did with mine was set up a seed tray with a vented lid on top of a heatmat, used the thermostat (which I already had) and lined it with kitchen paper which I sprayed very slightly at one end for humidity, the hatchling buried into it in the damp end. I added just a table lamp on the outside for light and pringle pot lid was used for a water container! After about a week, when the umbilicus had dried up I put him in the table.
If you have a viv I think I would use it in this situation. |

I put mine in a large margarine pot or the like, inside the same enclosure as their siblings. So they got the same but not touching the others. They wont need a lot of moving around until they are bigger. Well thats what I found:0)

I don't have a viv, but think I may have to invest in one although it goes against everything I believe in.... But this is exceptional circumstances... Although I like your idea AllyCat, so will give it some thought tonight and go shopping tomorrow.. Little guy has eaten today also which is a positive and they have both had 2 baths....
Take care Tracie |
