I have used two of these for over 10yrs, without any extra heat. A lot depends on where you live of course as to whether you can go without heat outside.
I live in Kent, so temps are normally fine, and my tortoises live outside 24/7 without any extra heat from May until around the end of September. If we do have a week or so without heat, they are brought inside again to warm up and wait until things improve. I do have greenhouses where my boxies and ibera adults live, they are heated in early Spring and late Autumn, but not during the Summer months. They are also bubble wrapped to help retain heat.
As for putting heatlamps in a CF, I suppose its possible, putting amoured cable under ground, and fitting a clamp on wood or the like, if the CF is high enough off the ground. One of my CF is on bricks, and the other is on brieze blocks.
They are very useful. I actually got mine at B&Q when they used to sell them, and a lot cheaper:0)
Its always worth asking on freecycle or freegle to see if anyone has one they are not using any more.

I had a heat bulb in one of the coldframes I used but with the metal framed ones it means cutting a hole in either the frame or the perspex/glass to put the wire/mount through and its very difficult to cut without splitting the perspex or damaging the frame. By themselves they are fairly fragile as to be blown by the wind so mounting it on a wooden or brick frame gives it the stability and also makes it easier to make a doorway, you simply leave a gap if the wooden or brick frame, obviously the frame needs to be as tall as the tort needs a door. 6inch or so wood is usually enough for the average tort, most of mine were plastic framed which if mounted last just as long as the more costly metal ones, its easy to mount it onto wood just make the base which is the same size as the frame then screw the corners to the wood, mine had holes in the corners for attatching to something. The whole thing can then be moved around if needed as the wood holds it all together.

Thanks for the replys. This is an upgrade, just thought glass would be better than plastic. What do you think?

You certainly get what you pay for - this is a good quality item by a well known manufacturer. Obviously you could get a B&Q, Argos, Homebase etc own branded item for a lot less.

Personally I would always say glass was better than plastic, but it depends upon whether you have children etc leaping about the garden!

Anything plastic has to be well and truely held down, otherwise they get blown away. I also have two plastic coldframes as well, one the lid is always blowing off, as I havent found a way of keeping it on yet.
The other has the same sort of roof as the one you linked to, and is better than the more flimsy ones, and I hold the lid on with a few bits of log roll. They were around a few years ago, and around £30, but I cant remember their names. They have a dark green frame and plastic inserts, if anyone can remember. But I wouldnt put heat in any plastic coldframe.
