Default No poo!

Hi everyone,

I'm concerned that my tort has a blockage. We have had no poo in around 2 weeks. Normally she only goes twice a week when I bathe her. I think she may have eaten a little stone when I took her outside last week.

I have been bathing her every day, for 4 days, but still nothing.
Shall I take her to the vet? And if so what's ill they do?
or is there anything else I can try at home first?

Thanks

Cucumber is a great laxative, which usually works here. May be worth a try.
Also, torts seem to really hate being in the car, so a little journey may also get things moving. Good luck and let us know how things go.

Has your tortoise had enough roughage?
Also your tortoise can be eating it (sorry) it does happen.

I will try the cucumber, excellent suggestion.
I'll take her in the car tomorrow as well.

She eats a selection of plants I grow in the garden, clover and lambs lettuce.
true, I never thought about her eating it. To be honest I have only ever seen her go in her bath or water dish and they have been empty for a few weeks.

Thank you both

Still nothing today.
Do you think I should take her to the vet soon, or wait a bit longer to see if the cucumber works?
just a bit anxious at the minute, I don't want to ignore it, but at the same time I don't know how long the digestive system will take to sort it self out.

Their digestive system can take weeks. Give it a little more time and maybe in the meantime try the suggestions above. xx

Are you soaking it in a bath of warm water for a while, at least 20 minutes or so and at least twice a day? They can pass fairly large stones. Is it straining as if it's trying to pass a stone, e.g. head going in?
