That's what I've been saying all along except that now days it is not s simple resistive coil. It's some kind of electronic thing that breaks the current into pulses which reduces the heat in the rheostat.

You can go expensive and get a pulse thermostat but I don't see the point of it for the added expense.

Ahh I see, I'm out in the states next year so if need be might pick a couple up. Can they be used for lamps too?

On the link it says about A European model, will have to investigate a bit more, or just try and win some cheep on eBay

That company has been around for a while. I'm sure they have a 220v model.

That is the problem rheostat's would be useful here, but they are not available already made to use, the habistat an d like thermostat's are everywhere. A Rheostat here, could be made up by ordering part's from electric part outlet's but again not many would be able or feel confident on making it up for Reptile keeping, so the on shelf thermostat is the popular one here.

As long as the lamps are incandescent and not MVB or eco bulbs.

Just wondering what time we should put it on? our light gets turned off at 7pm. is that when the heat mat would go on?
