Mazuri tortoise diet- do you agree with ed

sorry I won't vote either because I do very infrequently feed my pellets about once a month or so mostly because I worry that they may be lacking in something but I wouldn't use it more than that plus I'd never heard of it before Ed,s posting, there should be a " might use it " posting.

hi i have to say no i wouldnt use pellets but im not over keen on bowl fed animals if it can be avoided i much prefer mine to get the exercise when they need to search for thier own food,unfortunately this isnt always possible in our climate but we should at least make the effort.

I vote no also, except I have used it on the occassion for red and yellow foots but still found that green vegetation and fruits where more widely excepetd to pellets .

I like to feed a natural as possible diet to all my animals which include tortoises, I find weeds and flowers through most of the year with no problem so prefer to use a diet they would eat in there wild state , I do though still prefer to have well planted areas to allow natural selection of food items but in the winter hand gathering is the only option so I do use artifical means of applying a calcium and vit/min supplement though to add what might be missing after picking and too boost the calcium content

I voted yes..as I have used in for sick torts and.........if I were in a situation which presented different circumstances..I may have to ....although I may not want to..just being honest

If you can use natural feed, why use processed.

Nature has managed to get it right for the past 200 million years, or there about. Who are we to question that!

I have voted no, I prefer to use natural foods which would certainly be more readily available in the outdoors than pellets ever would.

I am not saying that they dont have a place in the diets of tropical species tortoises but as I only keep med spurs then weeds and flowers is all mine get.

I can't vote either as Bruce still hasn't touched any food and i'm starting to panic. ..if things don't get better i may have to consider pellets or something for a while so at least he is eatin something. However, in an ideal world i would love to just feed weeds and let him find them himself. xxx

Please hold out, it look my tortoise 3 months to eat properly. Its more important to keep your tortoise hydrated. How long has it been?

I never see him drinking-ever...but he has baths every other day and passes normal urates. He hasn't really eaten since i got him...three weeks tomorrow. He had half a cherry tomato and a couple of weed leaves in the first week but nothing since. i know i should hold out but it's horrible worrying bout it...if yours took 3 months tho, i should hold on a bit longer xxx

i voted noooooooooooooooooo cos i rarely agree with anything ed says only normally i keep my fingers away from the key board but i do have my evidence to back this up this time
i used to soley feed pellets to my horsefiled when i knew nothing about torts which is what i thought was normal untill i discovered a natural weed based diet and the difference is so much noticable now she is a proper tortoise who now lays eggs and acts like a normal tort where as before she was lazy and misrable
