*EDIT* I remembered you are from Mayo so you are likely to have to buy these from elsewhere, pretty sure they only do UK delivery unfortunately
I don't know what's best but I use this one http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/e...low-light.html .. it has to be the large one of these at £16.20 for a 160w bulb, the other 2 options are no use unless you get a 100w bulb. they come with both a hanger and a spring clamp in the box for optional hanging or clamping. Some of the other lamp holders don't have hangers. I hang mine from a stand, the standard one here http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/lamp-stands.html ,the small is too small. You can make your own but I have done it before and by the time you pay for bits and pieces you're as well buying one. If on a budget this ceramic holder is for mercury vapour bulbs it says but doesn't give a wattage rating on it so not sure, you'd also have to find something to hang it from http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/k...p-fixture.html whatever you get it should be a ceramic holder (which most or all the reptile lamp holders are) and be able to take 160w or 100w if you go for the 100w version of the bulb Last edited by Alan1; 09-03-2011 at 07:37 AM. |

I use the ZooMed Deep Dome which should take upto 160w. Whilst I dont normally recommend going to the max of the holder with a bulb...I think as the Arcadia 160w's arent as heat-intense as other 160ws then probably it would be ok. You would need a large lamp stand to suspend the dome. This should be fine all together.
http://reptilekeeping.co.uk/zoo-med-...or-p-1829.html http://reptilekeeping.co.uk/zoo-med-...20-p-1056.html (I think this is the larger lamp stand...feel free to correct me if its not.) I am due to get one this week BTW and probably wont change my holder. The MR that I have been using has been superb. And has worked like a dream right out the box. So fingers crossed Darren that similar success stories are had with the new raptor bulb Hope this helps xx |

...oh BTW, make sure you have the bulb pointing vertically downwards. It must not be at an angle. And obviously to follow the min/max height restrictions for combined bulbs which should be on the box, or on instructions inside. xx
