Default A few questions... Urgent!

Hiya, I would be great if you could all help me, I have a few questions, and I need the answers urgently! Thank you in advance everyone! The questions are as follows...
  • What substrate should the eggs be kept on in the incubator?
  • How do I keep the humidity level up?
  • For 80% humidity, how much water will I need?
  • Also, do my eggs* look fertile?

* = My eggs were only laid yesterday evening at 8:52pm, is it too early to tell if they are fertile!

P.S- I will post pictures of the eggs later on, when my camera battery's are working! x

Congrats on your eggs I use vermiticulite, slightly damp so that it forms a ball but isn't dripping wet. Some use it dry, too. I make a small indentation for the egg and then mark the tops of them with a pencil. I use a medium-sized sandwhich tub (from asda for something like £1.50) filled with water. The humidity stays around 65%-80%. I re-fill it every few days as I live in a hard-water area and the top of the water sometimes gets a build up of white in it.

How many eggs did she lay, and did she dig a nest?

Hiya Josh, thank you so much for the congratulations and advice, I am very chuffed with my darling tortoise and her eggs! Do you fill the tub full of water, or half way or something similar? Also, she has laid 2 eggs, and yes she dug a nest in a pile of soil under the heat lamp. Does this sound like quite a natural nest?

Most will lay under a heat lamp or in a greenhouse if given the option. Well done on the eggs. I fill my water-dish nearly to the top.
I bath Yanni twice a day for a few days after laying as often they pee during laying on the nest-site to dampen it.

I got a few videos of her nesting in the garden, I think these were practice nests. However I did not get any videos of her making her nest indoors

Hiya, the 2nd egg that was layed seems to be chalking up? Does this mean there is a good chance that it could be fertile? Also it seems to have like little bubble inside, I thinks its the veins. I will attempt to take a picture, & how many days until I can candle it? Or can I candle it straight away?

If your egg is "chalking", than it means it's fertile. You can candle now to be sure it's fertile, as the spot that's "chalking" will be darker than the rest of the egg. You won't see the blood ring (that is the first bit that develops) for about 10 days after the eggs start to "chalk". You won't see larger veins till about 20 days.
