Won't wake up

Hi,

I know you will think that I am very late in the season but I had to put my 2 THB male brothers aged 5 years old into hibernation as they were not showing signs of slowing down but I put that down to central heating.
I didnt do this until mid Feb. After about 12 weeks I now can't wake them. I did check on them regularly during (in the fridge) and all seemed ok.

I have tried lukewarm baths but they dont wake and they would drown if I didnt keep lifting them. When I do lift them above the water they breathe and clear their nostrils but no movement. What have I done wrong?

Last year was my first year so only did 8 weeks with success.

They are just staying still in their enclosure and have been for 4 days now. Eyes closed. I dont put them under the direct lamp as they cant move away if needed.

Any suggestions? They have lost a bit of weight so keep to get them feeding. I am rather worried now. Thanks

I think a vet visit is in order I am assuming you have tried Reptoboost/critical care? Also please dont put them directly under a heat lamp if they are unable to move

Sorry just read your not putting them under heat lamp. Have you tried enticing them with a bit of favourite food wafted under their nostrils? What temperatures are you keeping them at? (& overnight) are their eyes open? & do they react if you move something towards their eyes?

Do you have details of a specialist vet your able to take them to Karin?

They are in room temp of 21oC in the day and 18oC night, no eyes open ever. I will try the food. I do know a vet yes. Just seems odd they are both like it, surely the odds of them both being ill is rare.

I should have said that my 3rd Hermanns is fine, he is a year younger and eating, lively, just as he should be.

Was the third one hibernated & in same location/part of the fridge Karin?
Did you use thermometer & monitor temperatures?
Where was the fridge you used located?
I seem to remember your torts were underweight for hibernation back end of last year, is this the two that are now not waking up? Is that why you delayed hibernation?
Have you got reptoboost/ avipro / critical care or similar?
How long have they been out of the fridge?

Not sure what reptoboost etc are.
Yes one reason I delayed hibernation was to get some more weigh on but they have always been underweight a little since I adopted them 3 years ago, active males but weigh was better in the end.

Same fridge with thermometer for all of them on all at around 5-6oC constantly as for my smaller boy. Fridge in utility room, same as last year.

Been out fridge for 4days.

Are their eyes sunken in?
I am sorry to say if no movement at all and eyes sunken, It might well be they have passed away.

Oh gosh I do hope it all works out for them and you! You are obviously frantic with worry.
One of my horsefields took ages to come round from hibernation. I just kept a close eye on him and made sure he was warm especially at night, he did come round eventually but it was a bit scarey to say the least.
