Many many thanks for all your encouraging words guys ...
Just to update then, he is still alive, he has absorbed more of his yolk sac, he had a tiny drink of sterile water today too. I had a chance to have a closer look at him, and he definately only has one eye. I would rather not take any photos of him at this stage (I cannot really explain why? ) I am normally (given the chance) eager to take many many pics. egyptiandan64, Yes dan, thanks to your "pop lid" advice you gave me last year, I have utilised this on a number of occassions, with great results. One Eyed Jack sounds like a great name for him too, thanks mate ... sandy, The extended incubation time is a good question. I have had eggs from the same clutch hatch within 10 to 14 days of each other before, but never like this egg? It was over a month late, the questions are- How longer would the egg have incubated? Would the under developed tort have pipped/broke the egg itself? Would the tort have died in the egg? Would the tort have incubated for yet another month and been fully grown? When do we make the decission to assist in hatching a tort? Is the fact that this tort having only one eye, the reason for its lack of growth and slow incubation duration?... helen1, Hearing of your torts, has given me renewed hope for this little guys survival...T.T. 8)
