Oh my goodness I cant believe what I have just read and have had to re read it a couple of times. I am totaly shocked by this post.
I am no ass kisser, but really feel I have to say something. I have found Darren to be one of the kindest, most caring, non egotistical (if thats a word) people I have met in a long time. I know nothing of the world of tortoise breeding/dealers but will shout it out loud. DARREN IS NO DEALER. No dealer would take the time, effort, patience or financial resources it must take him and Sarah to run a forum like this. Or put up with these insults. He is most deffinatly not in it for the money and to say he is running a battery farm is a joke. All his animals are well cared for and healthy. It must cost a small fortune and a huge amount of time to keep these tortoises and for them to breed so well is only a credit to his excellent husbandry. His knowledge of tortoises and other animal for that matter is second to non and I for one have found his help and advice invaluable. Keep doing what you do Darren and hard as it is try to ignore these nasty, jelous people. Rach

Congratulations Darren on your beautiful star baby I am so impressed by your well earned success with your tort breeding - 2008 sounds like it will be another busy year for you. Do you end up keeping any of your babies?

Like Kelly and Peter Darren has rehomed some of his lovely and healthy CB tortoises to me also. They are thriving.
Some people in the tortoise world are just dam right nasty and it makes my blood boil. You cannot do right for doing wrong. We are all for captive breeding, yet you get slagged off for breeding! Please ignore these narrow minded people Darren.

I dont see this as a feel sorry for Darren thread, far from it. I think its a tribute to all your
husbandry skills. Not only with tortoises, but with any animal that comes to you for what ever reason. You are on of the most selfless people I know. When you have been around the list as long as I have, you know that what has been said to Darren is just the tip of the iceberg. There are some really nasty people around. Some groom youngsters to their way of thinking, then when something goes wrong guess who gets the blame. I have in the past had such mails as Darren but refuse to answer them. And have not done so up to now.

Ditto Ditto Ditto everything Toni, Kelly, Pete, Dan, Rach, Carrie, Sarah, Becks, Sandy and Linz has said already.
Darren, I remember back to the first time I met you, and gave you a lift from Penny's, all the way to your house you asked me questions about my tortoise I have, how she is kept, fed etc...... You welcomed me into your house, and showed me some of your fantstic healthy happy tortoise collection and your own bred hatchlings. I had 2 clutch mates (iberas) Penny and Jenny, who are growing fantastic, with the thanks to the back up of Darren, who is always there if you need him, and who always takes an interest in your pictures when you post them of his hatchlings, and who also knows who he bred for those particular hatchlings too. No dealer on earth would be this interested at all. Darren is definatley not a dealer, he is a very dedicated, very sucessful captive breeder of healthy happy tortoises. I too am extremely privellaged to know you, learn form you, befriend you and have a few of your 'trophies', and I will not ever hear a bad word said against you. In my eyes you are a tortoise genius Darren, never ever forget that. Ade
