Mine are the same, they don't come out if it's going to be low pressure. I'm wondering though if they can also forecast the temperature because last night's forecast here was for a minimum 4-5c and one of mine dug down in the soil outside yesterday evening when it was still relatively warm, something neither of them have done this summer up to now

I have used my tortoises for the last 20 odd years as weather forecasters.
If they dont come out then is going to rain, or not be warm enough.

waaaa ! that's central heating time on that is ! it was 12 degrees last night and felt like autumn. I made soup at the weekend !! I don't think my lot have put on much weight at all this summer

we have been getting daytime temps of 12-17 degrees for the past couple of months most days

tomorrow it's to be sunny + partly cloudy but only 16c max :/

Do your torts have a greenhouse Alan? I love the fact if its cooler outside but the slightewt bit of sun how much warmer they are.

Yes but I still haven't got round to making a way in and out yet, the door is at the wrong end so have to put them out and bring them in manually if they need to come in. Last autumn/winter there were a few rats about after fields had been cut so didn't want any easy routes into greenhouse

What about a tunnel under. Someone showed me theirs, they close it up with a slate. Works great
