Well myself and her indoors both picked up a real nasty bug which we think was covid at the start of January and it has only just gone. It's was horrible constant cough sore throat head ache ears joints and feeling absolutely drained all the time were just a few of the symptoms. Still on a good note I am getting all my torts up today so on to of my non hibernating ones I will now have something to do. |

Oh no, that sounds awful for the pair of you. I have to admit I’ve become something of a recluse and I only leave the house for anything medical or anything to do with the (adult) kids. My daughter and her bf are buying their first home so that’s also been keeping me busy. Feeling drained all the time is so hard. Fatigue is definitely underrated and misunderstood. I celebrate the little things these days and if I find I’ve been productive and ticked a few things off my to-do list, that’s a good day! Glad that you’re feeling better now and hopefully your energy levels will increase, Gordon. I bet you’re looking forward to getting them up and back into their pens again.

As for me feeling better hmmm. I am still getting a lot of pain and discomfort from the hernia mesh and all the scaring (12 inches long) so I have been in and out of hospital having scans and even the good old camera down your throat which I must admit was unpleasant. I'm seeing a dietitian at the hospital also and had lots of blood testes which have come up with me having very low vit b12 and vit d so in the middle of a course of 6 jabs for the vit b12 which is a bit like a bee sting as it goes in and for a while after. Oh and while he was ferreting about down in my stomach he found I had a hiatus hernia which he said he could fix at the same time as taking out the mesh if that is what needs doing. Off to see him later this month to see what the plan is. |

Well all the torts are up and all seem to be ok and seem to have kept good weight on so all they need now is some sunshine.

Crikey G, more potential surgery.
Did you have sedation for your gastroscopy or just the throat numbing spray? I agree, it’s not a fun procedure at all.

Mine was quite some time back but I had two doses of the sedative. My nurse specialist endoscopist gave me the second dose when I complained the first had no effect. She said that was it or they’d have to get an anaesthetist down. I must have gone off and then woke either as the camera was going down or they were doing the biopsies as I was aware of retching and having the pillow changed under me. Then that was it until I came to in recovery with my oxygen nubs on.
I’ve had worse procedures than that and yet I felt very vulnerable having it. I think it was because of the mouth guard to stop you biting down on the camera. I was so relieved to get my cup of tea and then be given the all clear to leave. Not much fun. I take it nothing untoward showed up then?
