I would recommend you het a hygrometer , it's really important to keep the humidity up at 75%

Thanks for that, I've ordered one so hopefully it will arrive quickly so I can do what is necessary. It'll be a few days laid by then but fingers crossed it will be ok. If the humidity is too low what do I do, add more water pots?

Hi Sam, I think the humidity will be fine in the short term. If you've got some water in pots inside the incubator then that should do you until your gadget arrives.

We always panic when eggs appear, but they are alright for a while with conditions that are far from perfect.

Ok my hygrometer and thermometer arrived, the reading says 31.9c and 88% humidity.

How does that sound?

I suspect the humidity is too high but I don't know how to make it less. I currently have a bowl of water in there.

Mark the top of the eggs so you dont turn them by mistake. Once eggs get warmed they shouldnt be turned.
I use a soft pencil to mark a cross, others put names or date on the eggs.

88%is a bit high, can you get it down to 80% . 31-32 c is spot on for females.

Great stuff Sam. I've got surprise eggs in my incubator too. Sandy advises me that it's a good trial run for the keeper, even if they don't hatch. And I've found that to be right so far as I've got into a routine of checking humidity and temperature daily.

You could try a different container for the water that has a little less surface area.
