Alis are just as easy to get over here as snappers puncture .
You mention musks mate but did you read the size of the huuuuge tank there using poor little guys would look lost

Maybe. I think the liklihood of it being a Common rather than an Gator is pretty great. They are imported at a much higher level. They are wildy seen in pet shops, for sale on the internet (UK-based retailers) and often seen in the free ads on herp sites... more so than gators. The only advert I have seen for Ali Snappers; on inspection of the photos were Common anyway. That's beside the point anyway.
I really dont think that soft-shelled turtles should be kept by (I'm not sure who is going to be the keeper by the way) anyone other than experienced turtle keepers... they're a lot harder to look after. Certainly health-wise anyway.
The tank dimensions are huge, and you're right about the Musks... although a group of 5"'s wouldn't look too out of place... maybe with some fish? There are plenty of larger-growing species that are a lot easier to care for... although they might not have the same shock factor or beauty. All I'm saying is that Snappers, common or 'gator are a bad idea unless you run a zoo, enjoy Crocodile Dundee-style wrestling antics, or no longer feel you have a need for your fingers.

Fair point sam probably just that i know some people that sell cb alis haha and youre point about commons is a good one too ive had some close encounters with snappers ( still have 10 digits though).

Id say as its a tank for display and the keepers probably arnt going to be experienced in turtles they should go for fish
A huuge pike would be cool

Without straying to far from the original topic; I think that fish would be best suited for a commercial display... Piranha (true ones or those lookalike things), Scorpion / Lion fish (although dangerous)... you know, things with shock value (maybe that's the purpose?... I'm not sure what atmosphere is wanted? Nightclub? Jazz bar? Board room?) I appreciate that these probably also need specialist care - I don't know owt about fish.
It's a mighty big tank to try and find something that will not look out of place and be easy-enough to care for!!

Do you have many 'unwanted' snappers come your way Lloyd? I bet most of them are simply dumped I guess?

Jayne: Have you considered Florida Red-bellies? - They get fairly large and have quite a pretty appearance. They are not too expensive either. As most, if not all of the turtles available in pet shops (around our area anyway) are hatchlings.. maybe its an idea to adopt from a rehousing place? Instant size as per the tank's requirements!
