Default Indian star: eggs incubation and care

Hi everyone I am from Indore, M.P., India. My tortoise laid an egg on 31 Jan. I visited to my veterinarian, he suggested me to partially embedded eggs in sand and place them under a 40 w spotlight bulb. Then she laid 2nd clutch of 4 eggs on 19 Feb, I did the same with those too.

I am very worried about the development of eggs will it work as I feel the humidity is quite low. Please suggest some better way out. I have also looked for incubator and other equipment in the market but I don't find any. I have tried to post some pic of eggs.

Please help...
Thanks!!!

It all depends on the temperature and humidity in the incubator (especially where the eggs are). Do you know the temperature and humidity?

I don't know exactly but the ambient temperature is nearly 29 - 30 degree celsius and about humidity I don't know.

Be a very good idea to buy a thermometer and a hygrometer, so you can tell exactly what's going on inside the incubator. That way we can advise better

Don't know what to tell you to do as don't know your temperature or humidity. Just make sure your sponge is full of water.

Danny if u don't mind can you please let me know who does an fertile and a non-fertile egg looks like. As l have seen the eggs for first-time in life. I tryed to candle first egg today as it is about 28 days old. Eggyolk has settled down and it is bit darker on top. Is the egg fertile? When can I try to candle others?

Thanks Radhika

You can candle the others now and if the yolk has settled to the bottom of the egg then it's most likely fertile
