Thank you.
there's a couple of possibles since it's a mega-ray Anita, one being the not quite getting a good contact on the copper thing as mentioned and the other being the fact that it's a mega-ray as there were problems with that happening with a batch about 12-15 months ago, see here http://www.shelledwarriors.co.uk/for...ad.php?t=32644

Thanks again, he did the copper contact thing last Sunday, so that's ok. He rewired the end going into the ceramic ffitting this afternoon, also bypassed the on/off switch (half way along the wire) and checked the plug wires and changed the fuse. It was flickering on and off throughout when plugged in and then the bulb stayed on... But (there's always a but lol) when I went to switch it off tonight, I wiggled the wire and the bulb went out.
So he's calling into B&Q tomorrow to get some new cable. Hopefully that should do it!

Edit, thanks again I shall let you know if it's working properly after the cable has been changed

I suppose the wiring will have a life limit just like house wiring on a ceiling light when you think about it. they do get a lot of use 12 hours a day or so

Morning when you say a normal bulb - do you just mean a screw in house bulb? I've got a spare R80 spot as we use them in the bathroom.

The UVB has worked this morning lol so I shan't fiddle with it, but we can check it tonight.

Thanks

Aye just an ordinary house bulb that fits the ES27 screw-in thread, as I said elswhere if you haven't got one to fit then Asda have some low energy ones going cheap, 3 for £1. I suspect that the problem might be the Mega-ray bulb though.

ES27 is a thicker screw than most other screw in house bulbs I think
