Tortoise castle!! :)
Hey all,
Hope your all having a lovely bank holiday weekend. Me and my other half got fed up of kreacher being the only one of our pets in the house that doesn't have a funky house so in-keeping with our goth/medieval house we have made her a castle to live in in the winter so she doesn't hibernate it's taken us ages to get it tortoise proof and we've just put her in to check it out...it has a working draw bridge and even has a tiny grave yard outside tge castle Walls hehe!! It looks cool but I don't think it's a suitable tortoise house. The lamp needs to be at one end rather than in the middle in order to get a suitable heat gradient, and there isn't really enough space. The effort you've put in is great but perhaps you could use it for another animal.
Why aren't you hibernating him this year? |

I don't hibernate her any year...I don't feel there is any need when my house is nice and warm...she won't naturally hibernate unless I put her somewhere cold so she stays awake inside...the heat lamp is right at the back and the uv light hangs over the middle so she has adequate space to thermo regulate and all the temps have been set so she has warm and cool spots...as for space, it is three foot square which is larger than a lot of commercially available tables...

I think it's cool, and you have done so much work on it, I'm sure she loves it, and well done

How cool
You could have a lift system installed so that the little one can get to the towers for watch duty hehe
