last rays of summer
I think autumn is official as 1st September, it is certainly getting autumnal already and Papa un is off to bed earlier these days.
I am always led by the girlie Horsfields. Not been out much and eating bare minimum, CB

It's definitely turned cooler. The forecast says it's going to warm up towards the end of next week again. We'll see. Maybe an Indian summer for our torts to mark the most of the garden before winter sets in.
Not that I'm complaining as Autumn is my favourite season and I'm super excited about if this year. Rain and more rain today though.....

Tipping down here too! I hope we have some indian summer days too. Summer seems to have come and gone so quickly. It was still really cool here at night until the end of May (not much better in the day either)
Lovely pictures Claire. |

Yes, mine have all started to notice early autumn, Lottey is sleeping in late and going to bed early, but all of them are doing similar. May be next week will be the last throws of summer. I was in Windsor today, it was lovely this morning, but I'm home now and it's chucking it down, I don't think any torts have been out 😕

the rain ...the rain... not seen a peep out of my lot. And then one decided to walk slowly in the rain have a look and walk slowly back to her the home under the cloche and all the while I was getting soaked til I could close up. I was drenched ! I had to change every bit of clothing and to top it all I stood on the water dish which catapulted in the air and sprayed me with water.....oh well, another autumn. I cant imagine not having tortoises with all the fun they bring !! you would never experience just standing in the rain waiting for a slow reptile to decide whether its time for bed or time for a hydrate.....ha ! Well my two are still in summer mode in a big way. Yesterday I left them to decide where they wanted to be in the rain and they stayed out, snuggled up against the wooden wall. Again this morning up early and still out just before I came on line. Perhaps it is because it is the first summer I have left then out . (I kept bringing them to their indoor pen in the house unless it was a really balmy night) They are obviously loving their freedom.
I am hoping to let them choose their hibernation time. This will be a big change for me having controlled and delayed their going into hibernation. Although I have let them choose when they wake up. I love autumn, but the change I do not like is the darker evenings already.

Are they slowing down Jan? my lot didn't even come out today except one and I ended up putting him back with a double cloche over his house. Blooming awful weather. rained all day, everything soaked and all the water butts overflowing again, CB
