Default 'Training' a Horsfield to find food?

Would I need to 'train' my Horsfield to find food for himself in his enclosure, as he has been used to having his food gathered by me, or will be be able to find some for himself once they have grown properly (the weeds that is)?

Hi ya - I'd say it was instinct - he'll smell it if he's anythign like mine - Im sure they think Im a giant dandelion flower! I tend to feed them a little bit on their slate and then throw a few bits around so they stumble cross it as they're wondering around and foraing which to me seems more natural.

Thanks for the reply

Do you think if I just started to feed him less (once the weeds have grown properly in his enclosure) he would start to pick them for himself?

mine totally trashed what I'd planted in their enclosure at first - they've calmed down a bit now. When mine are outside I dont feed them most days (maybe the odd bit) they go off and look for it themselves. So if you're talking about outside I'd say give him a dinky little bit and watch him to see how he gets on and check the plants out later onto see if and what he's nibbled. He certainly wont starve himself so dont worry.
